Acupuncture for Pain, and Burnout in Iowa City
Treat your body as a garden, not a broken machine.
Living with chronic stress and pain is exhausting. When pushing harder doesn’t work, it’s easy to feel hopeless and give up. I can help you find a better balance with traditional Chinese medicine. The treatments will help you restore natural circulation, calm an overworked nervous system, and rebuild your reserves.
At Clinic Eight, I blend time tested traditions with modern medical insights to treat both your symptoms and their root cause.
It’s not too late to feel well again. Get back to doing the things you love to do.
Clinic Eight Acupuncture
Since 2008 I have provided relief for patients of all ages who are suffering from acute and chronic pain, high stress, or who simply don’t feel well. By blending classical traditions with a modern medical perspective, I focus on delivering measurable results and practical lifestyle guidance. Whether you are recovering from a sports injury or managing dry eye symptoms, your treatments are personalized to your specific goals.
I am an Iowa board of medicine licensed acupuncturist and doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. While classically trained at Pacific College of Health and Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), I have also learned Dr. Tan’s balance method and taken advanced courses in Neuro-meridian acupuncture with Dr. Poney Chiang.
Support Your Course of Care
Acupuncture builds on itself. Most patients feel a significant shift within 4–6 treatments, so I offer multi-session packages that cover a full first course of care and save you $180.
About Rob Weingeist
I'm an Iowa City native. I went to City High, played tennis in college, and came back here to practice.
I've been treating patients since 2008. I hold a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, and I'm also a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, which means I'm comfortable in a western clinic and comfortable talking to your other doctors. Most of what I treat is pain that hasn't resolved, stress that won't let go, and the kind of exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix.
What I offer is a careful exam, a plan you can follow, and a quiet hour where something actually changes.
Doctorate Degree
Advanced clinical training completed at the Pacific College of Health and Science.
Integrative Practice
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant bridging Eastern and Western clinical environments.
Specializations
Neuro meridian acupuncture, Dr. Tan Balance Method, Wing Chun, and Qigong.

Rob is a licensed acupuncturist and a proud professional member of the Iowa Association of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture.
I am an Iowa City native and a 1998 graduate of City High. I attended The University of Puget Sound for my Bachelor’s degree in English and played on the varsity tennis team. I love to help new and veteran athletes get back in the game.
I completed a four year post graduate Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Chicago’s Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. In 2008 I moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to begin my acupuncture practice. There I began studying Pin Sun Wing Chun Kung Fu and Yang Shen Qigong Meditation with Sifu Jim Roselando. If you are looking for the best traditional kung fu in Iowa, I can help you access it.
Outside of my eastern medical training I also became a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and have assisted internationally respected eye surgeons at Tufts University and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. I currently enjoy spending part of my week assisting the world class ophthalmologists at the University of Iowa River Landing.
In addition to being recognized by the NCCAOM as an acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine, I have been licensed by the Iowa Board of Medicine to practice acupuncture since 2014. With my experience in western medical practices, and growing up in a family of ophthalmologists, I believe an integrative approach to healing is often most effective.
I am the founder of Clinic Eight, treating patients within Bella Vita Chiropractic and Wellness on the east side of Iowa City. When I am not in clinic I like playing tennis, fishing, and training wing chun. I love a good laugh and have a passion for domestic and international travel.
